BIOGRAPHY
Candrice R. Heath, MD, FAAP, FAAD is an Associate Professor of Dermatology at Howard University. She is triple board-certified in Dermatology, Pediatrics, and Pediatric Dermatology and maintains a clinical practice that includes both children and adults. She earned her undergraduate degree at Wake Forest University and her medical degree at the University of Virginia. She completed pediatric residency at Emory University, dermatology residency at Mt. Sinai St. Luke’s-Roosevelt in New York City, and pediatric dermatology fellowship at Johns Hopkins. Dr. Heath is a nationally recognized speaker and clinical researcher whose past leadership roles include work with the Pediatric Dermatology Research Alliance Skin of Color and Pigmentary Disorders Group, the American Academy of Dermatology Diversity Committee, Skin of Color Society, and the Heath Health Foundation for Education and Research. Her scarring alopecia research and related scholarly work have been supported by Career Development Awards from the Robert A. Winn Excellence in Clinical Trials Award program and the Skin of Color Society. Her interests include atopic dermatitis, central centrifugal cicatricial alopecia, traction alopecia, and patient-centered culturally sensitive communication. She has published scientific articles, spoken nationally, appeared in media, and invests significant time mentoring trainees and developing educational initiatives that reach both patients and learners. She divides her time between roles as a grant-funded researcher, clinician, educator, and organizational leader, while remaining dedicated to her family and her passion for caring for patients.
