BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Avery LaChance, MD, MPH is an Associate Professor of Dermatology at Harvard Medical School and a physician in the Department of Dermatology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She is a nationally recognized expert in autoimmune and connective tissue diseases of the skin, with a clinical and research focus on fibrotic and inflammatory skin disorders including morphea, systemic sclerosis, dermatomyositis, and cutaneous lupus. Dr. LaChance directs the Connective Tissue Disease Clinic at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, a specialized referral center that cares for patients with complex autoimmune skin diseases. She is heavily involved with teaching as well as clinical and translational research in autoimmune skin disease. In addition to her clinical and academic work, Dr. LaChance is deeply committed to physician advocacy and health policy. She is involved with advocacy work at the local, state, and national level, and is the founder and national lead of Dermatology Trainee Advocacy Day, a program that equips dermatology trainees across the United States to engage in policy efforts aimed at improving access to dermatologic care.
