BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Alina G. Bridges is a world-renowned, triple-board-certified dermatologist, dermatopathologist, and immunodermatologist with 28 years of experience spanning academic medicine, laboratory leadership, education, research, and health policy. She is Director of Dermatopathology and Cutaneous Immunopathology at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell and Director of Cutaneous Pathology for the Northwell Cancer Institute. Dr. Bridges has unique expertise in immune-mediated skin disorders, with recognized strengths in immunobullous disease, vasculitis, connective tissue disease, inflammatory dermatoses, and complex clinicopathologic correlation as well as pigmented lesions. Her work integrates clinical dermatology, dermatopathology, and immunodermatology to advance diagnostic precision and patient-centered care. Prior to joining Northwell, Dr. Bridges spent more than two decades at the Mayo Clinic, where she practiced as an academic dermatologist, hospital dermatologist, dermatopathologist and immunodermatologist. She is emeritus Dermatopathology Fellowship Program Director at Mayo Clinic and has trained and mentored generations of dermatologists and dermatopathologists now in academic and leadership roles worldwide. Dr. Bridges brings sustained national leadership experience. She serves on the Boards of Directors of the American Academy of Dermatology and the Women’s Dermatologic Society and is Chair of the AAD Dermatopathology Committee. Her service to the American Society of Dermatopathology includes leadership roles on the Strategic Planning Committee (Vice Chair), Standards of Practice, Appropriate Use Criteria, Maintenance of Certification, and Nominations Committees. She is also an expert member of CMS’s Clinical Diagnostic Laboratory Test Advisory Panel, Melanoma Prevention Work group and AAD Council on Science and Research. Dr. Bridges serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Cutaneous Pathology and the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology and in Associate Editor of Cutis.
