DESCRIPTION

The ultimate goal of this session is to equip attendees with practical and immediately applicable skills for inpatient and consult work within the house of medicine. In this high-yield session, expert Dermatology Hospitalists will review some of the most common skin diseases seen in consultation. Topics include: pediatric emergencies, severe cutaneous adverse reactions, retiform purpura, hidradenitis suppurativa, tele-consults, and oncodermatologic emergencies. Information will be delivered in high-impact 20-minute specialty segments with an emphasis on practical practice points that are not readily available in the literature or textbooks.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

1.

Identify cutaneous manifestations of systemic diseases, medication reactions, and infections as they present in the hospitalized patient with skin disease.

2.

Develop a working differential diagnosis, management plan, and treatment algorithm for hospitalized patients with skin disease.

3.

Draw from a set of high-yield clinical pearls for performing inpatient and consultative dermatology care.
